Our area bounty encompasses the communities and shores within Pamlico, Craven, Carteret, Onslow and Pender counties, and includes a one hundred mile stretch of natural beaches and dunes, inlets and sounds, as well as rivers and maritime forests that make up the southern end of North Carolina's outer banks. From historic cities with palatial grounds and gardens to traditional fishing villages and family beaches, eastern coastal North Carolina is a vacationland with variety. Enjoy state aquariums, maritime museums, historic sites and plantations, an unspoiled national seashore with wild mustangs plus one of North Carolina's famous lighthouses and great shopping and dining. Wooden boatbuilding is a cherished pastime and plays an important role in North Carolina’s history. Avid carpenters or families looking for a unique experience will find the boatbuilding classes offered at the NC Maritime Museum’s Watercraft Center a great choice.
