FRIDAY

Evening Climb – Cape Lookout Lighthouse. 7:30pm. Join rangers from Cape Lookout National Seashore for an evening climb of the lighthouse. Hear stories of the light keepers and watch the stars come out from the beach. Tickets are $23 per person and include ferry service to the Cape. Concert at the Fort. 7pm. Friends of Fort Macon annually bring visitors to the site with its popular concert program. Scheduled for this month are Wild Honey (10th), The Morehead City Brass (17th) and 4EverAll (31st). The concerts are free and open to the public. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Laser Light Show & Dance Party. 7-10:30pm. Swansboro hosts these youth and teen dances in the town hall community room. The cost is $15 per child. Family and group rates are available. Details: 910-326-2600.

SATURDAY

Olde Beaufort Farmer’s Market. 8:30am-1pm. This weekly market is held at Courthouse Square in Beaufort. Visitors can expect local foods, arts, crafts and more. Details: www.beaufortfarmersmarket.com.

Traditional Skiff Regatta. 9am. Each year, the museum’s annual regatta finds traditional sailing skiffs racing around the island for the Shanghai Trophy. The race begins in front of the Harvey W. Smith Watercraft Center on Taylors Creek. Details: 252-728-7317 or www.ncmaritimemuseums.com.

Summer Craft Show. 9am-4pm. The History Place hosts this popular craft show featuring a variety of local artisans and craftsmen. Available items include hand painted porcelain, aprons, painted gourds, pottery, shell ornaments, jewelry, etched glass, ceramics and more. Free. Details: 252-247-7533.

Civil War Musket Firing Demonstration. 10:30am & 2:30pm. Learn about the history of the Civil War era musket, along with loading procedures and firing at Fort Macon State Park. Details: 252-726-3775.

Paddle the Roosevelt Natural Area. Explore tidal flats and quiet backwaters as you become aware of the intricate web of life thriving in this pristine natural environment through this NC Aquarium program.
